About Dr. Chowdhury Mobaswar Hossain

RESEARCH INTEREST
His research interest focused on the chemoprevention of diseases in a defined animal model particularly drug discovery and in vivo Pharmacology. He has wide experiences of testing pure natural and synthetic compounds in animal model of some diseases like Diabetes, Hepatocullar carcinogenesis (HCC) and Infectious diseases. His focus is to find out potential biological target as well as to uncover the mechanism of action of drug at the molecular level with the help of microbiology, molecular biology, immunology and pharmacological techniques. Once a target is defined, the process shifts from basic research to the discovery of a therapeutic approach. Recently, he has been working on the involvement of host defense peptides (HDPs) such as β-defensin in the innate immunity against infectious diseases and trying to explore the effect of Defensin Peptide mimetics against the pathogenesis of microbial infection. His goal is to develop safe and efficacious novel therapeutic compound for treating life threatening and debilitating aliments.
