What is Industrial Engineering and Management ?
Industrial Engineering and Management focuses on evaluating how to make systems more productive, enhance their reliability, and improve their quality & safety. According to IIE official definition, “Industrial Engineering is concerned with the design, improvement, and installation of integrated systems of people, materials, information, equipment, and energy. It draws upon specialized knowledge and skill in the mathematical, physical, and social sciences, together with the principles and methods of engineering analysis and design, to specify, predict and evaluate the results obtained from such systems”. Industrial engineers are trained to think in both broad and specific terms. Practicing industrial engineers understand business parameters as well as physical and social parameters within production systems. The program is interdisciplinary in nature. The wide-angle vision of industrial engineering provides career flexibility, in respect of enabling students to work both in academia and industry.
