About the DepartmentThe Department of Media Science, MAKAUT WB (In-house) commenced its journey with only one programme, BSc in Animation & Film Making, as its flag bearer in the year 2019. The infant department traversed along its goal to disseminate media education to the future media practitioners of Bengal with just 4 students, few faculty members and a bucket full of dreams. This department stood steady through every twist and turn that came on its way and several years and one pandemic later, the department is currently running three undergraduate programs and one post graduate program successfully with over 90 students.
Under the umbrella of the School of Media Science and Entertainment, various specialisations offering future-ready career choices are offered in the department. The state of the art infrastructure helps the students explore a wide range of career choices in the coming years. The expert faculty members impart their knowledge among the students to develop several levels of structured knowledge while the trainers of the department provide hands-on training to the students in cutting edge technology to make them industry-ready.
As a part of the curriculum, the department encourages its students to participate in internship programs in various contemporary industrial ventures. The department also organises various co-curricular activities, seminars, training and workshops with renowned industry personnel to ensure a holistic development of the students besides the academic curriculum.
