About the DepartmentForensic science encompasses all physical and natural sciences, making it an essential component of crime investigation and the criminal justice system. With recent advancements in the field of science and technology, the demand for sophisticated instrumental facilities and experts has increased in the country. The department of Forensic Science & Technology of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, West Bengal (MAKAUT, W.B) started its journey in the year of 2019. The university is the first in eastern India to open a forensic science department. Since the inception of the department, it has always been at the forefront. Currently, the department is running B.Sc. in Forensic Science and M.Sc. in Forensic Science courses. As part of the curriculum, we offer Forensic Ballistics, Digital Forensics, Question Documents, and other specialisations in M.Sc. Moreover, soon we are going to introduce Forensic Toxicology as another specialisation for the M.Sc. curriculum. The department is run by well-acclaimed faculty members and houses specialised wet laboratory and a high-end digital forensic laboratory to provide our students with the best.

AdmissionEligibility criteria for B.Sc. in Forensic Science: 10+2 with Science (Physics, Chemistry; Biology and Mathematics or Computer Science or Computer Applications)
Eligibility criteria for M.Sc. in Forensic Science: Any Science graduate with Honours or Major or Total Credit in UG course is at least 140 and above (Forensic Science; Digital Forensic; Physics; Chemistry; Zoology; Botany; Anthropology; Physiology; Computer Science; Biochemistry; Biotechnology; Life Science; Biological Science; Molecular Biology; Microbiology; Environmental Science; Genetics, Bachelors of Computer Applications, Cyber Security, Information Technology)
